Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu has found himself at odds with some law enforcement officials, who are urging him to halt his campaign of publicly shaming extortionists on social media platforms.
Gwamnishu, known for his relentless efforts in uncovering corruption within the Nigerian police force, has been met with resistance from officers, including DPO Abraka Fabian, who purportedly advised him to desist from making public revelations.

In a recent development, Gwamnishu took to social media to seek public opinion on the advice he received from law enforcement officials.
He stated, “I have been advised to STOP posting about our police extortion recoveries on social media. They pleaded I write to them privately and they will respond and act accordingly. What is your opinion please?”
This move prompted a response from Delta Command PRO, DSP Bright Edafe, who challenged Gwamnishu to identify the individuals who made the plea.
Edafe emphasized the importance of transparency, asserting, “Who pleaded? Be specific. Our men should do the right thing and stop going through the back door to beg. I won’t beg for anybody, the CP has promised to deal with anyone who brings embarrassment to the Police and the command.”
Gwamnishu has gained attention for his efforts in exposing corrupt police officers and recovering substantial sums of money extorted from Nigerian citizens by unscrupulous elements within the force.
Notably, he disclosed that a total of N29,900,000 was recovered from the police in Abuja, with an additional N2,465,000 reclaimed from the Divisional Police Headquarters in Abraka, Delta State.
Despite the pressure from law enforcement officials to cease his public disclosures, Gwamnishu remains resolute in his commitment to holding accountable those who abuse their authority for personal gain.
His actions reflect a broader push for transparency and accountability within Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies, highlighting the ongoing battle against corruption in the country.
