The Vice Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party who is also the incumbent Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa and his South-South counterparts have declared that PDP is in-charge and will win the Presidential and all other elections in the zone. Sen. Okowa said he believes that the PDP will recover, rescue and rebuild Cross River State, the South-South zone and the Nation from the sinking ship of the APC.

Speaking at the official opening ceremony of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Office in Calabar, the Delta State Governor lauded the leadership of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in the State for the volume of work already done which he has seen on ground. He believes that with the hard work of the Council and the love Cross River people have shown for the PDP, victory for the party is sure in the state and the South-South Region.

In a separate reaction, the Chairman of Atiku/Okowa National Presidential Campaign Council and the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, H.E. Udom Emmanuel, who inaugurated the PDP National Youth Campaign Council and the Women wing of the Presidential Campaign Council, recounted that the PDP has never lost any election in Cross River State since the advent of this Democratic dispensation in 1999 till date. This, according to him, has been a culture in the State and in the South-South region. Mr Udom Emmanuel reiterated his belief that 2023 will not be different and that the South-South Governors are united with the PDP family to win again.

Responding, H.E. Sen. Liyel Imoke, former governor of Cross River State and the Deputy Director (Operations) of the Atiku/Okowa National Presidential Campaign Council welcomed and appreciated the Vice Presidential Candidate, the South-South Governors present and other distinguished guests for honouring and gracing the ceremony. He spoke with certainty that the PDP family in the state is set to win all the election with the calibre of people inaugurated into the Youth and Women wings of the Presidential Campaign Council.

In his welcome speech, the Senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District and Chairman of Cross River State Presidential Campaign Council, Distinguished Senator Gershom H. Bassey, warmly welcomed the special visitors and the PDP family in the state and in the South-South zone to the opening ceremony. He assured everyone that the party in the state is already in the trenches working to win the general elections in 2023. He also asserted that the state has never lost any Presidential election because winning is a culture for the PDP family in Cross River State.

Sen. Gershom Bassey reassured that, “APC in the State is trying to learn the game of electioneering from the PDP and will never know it enough to outclass the masters. The PDP will cruise to victory and Atiku Abubakar will win with Cross River State convincingly”.

The Inauguration also had in attendance the Governor of Edo State, H.E. Godwin Obaseki, Bayelsa State Governor, H.E. Sen. Douye Diri, the Spokesperson for the National Campaign Council, Sen. Dino Malaye, Members of the CRS Presidential Campaign Council, CRS Executive Council of the party, PDP Candidates, Stakeholders, Civil Society Organizations and Representatives of Chapter and Ward leaders.
