His lifelong dedication to education, governance, and community service reflects the spirit of resilience and progress that defines Jigawa State today.
Alhaji Umar Ayuba Ringim was more than an educator he was a visionary. From teaching in Kiru Special Primary School and Birnin Kudu Government College to becoming Principal, his influence shaped generations of leaders, including former Kano State Governor Abubakar Rimi, who once sat in his classroom. His journey through education and public service showcased extraordinary leadership.
Ringim’s legacy extended beyond classrooms. He served as Head of the Centre for Adult Education in Kano, Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Commissioner in Jigawa State, and even as an INEC Commissioner in Anambra State.
He was also the first Chairman of Ringim Local Government after Jigawa’s creation and later returned to the same role during General Sani Abacha’s era.
For the writer, this anniversary is deeply personal. Growing up in Dutse, attending Dutse Model International School, and being connected through family roots in Ringim, Jigawa holds both memories and identity.
The milestone is not just about statehood it is about heritage.
As the people of Jigawa celebrate 34 years of progress, the tribute to Alhaji Umar Ayuba Ringim stands as a reminder of the power of education, governance, and service. His story is a beacon of inspiration for today’s leaders and future generations.
