Jonathan praises Babangida as a visionary leader whose contributions to Nigeria’s political and economic landscape remain profound.

The former president made the remarks in a statement celebrating Babangida’s 84th birthday on Saturday.

Through his spokesperson Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan commended Babangida’s enduring legacy in fostering national unity and guiding the country through complex economic and political challenges.

“On this special occasion of your 84th birthday, I celebrate your remarkable life, leadership, and dedication to our nation’s growth and progress,” Jonathan said.

Highlighting Babangida’s tenure as Head of State from 1985 to 1993, Jonathan noted his pivotal role in stabilizing the nation and navigating major reforms during turbulent periods. He added that Babangida’s efforts have left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s history.

Jonathan expressed hope that Babangida’s legacy would inspire future generations to uphold unity, peace, and sustainable development.

He also extended personal wishes, including long life, good health, and continued blessings.
