The former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager departs Fenerbahce Sports Club following a disappointing campaign in both domestic and European competitions.
In a brief but direct statement released on Friday via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Istanbul-based club announced:
“We have parted ways with Jose Mourinho, who has been the manager of our Professional Football A Team since the 2024–2025 season. We thank him for his efforts for our team and wish him success in his future career.”
The Portuguese tactician, who joined Fenerbahce in June 2024 to much fanfare, was expected to revive the club’s fortunes with his wealth of experience and signature tactical discipline.
However, his tenure failed to deliver the expected results.
Inconsistencies in the Super Lig and early exits from European tournaments reportedly fueled growing concerns within the Fenerbahce hierarchy.
At 62, Mourinho now faces another crossroads in his storied managerial career, having coached top clubs including Manchester United, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and AS Roma.
The departure marks yet another abrupt chapter in Mourinho’s recent managerial journey.
