To many, her name may not ring a bell but in the Nigeria’s Porn industry (if there is anything like that yet), Edet Mareme is an authority, she calls the shots and dictates the affairs of the sector in her own way.

Unknown to many, Mareme is a graduate of Photojournalism from Nigeria Institute of Journalism in Ogba, Lagos.

After her graduation from NIJ, she had a brief stint with TheNews Magazine, PM News as a photojournalist according to her bio on Instagram before it was updated when she switched career to full adult entertainment some years back.

In her days as a photojournalist, Mareme is known for her dedication to work and ability to display images in order to tell a visual story.

As a journalistic professional, the now adult entertainer is said to be skilled at interpreting and communicating an event through compilation of photograph in the news magazine, according to her colleague at The News and PM News.

Few years later, Mareme was conspicuously missing in action as she completely goes off the radar, for reasons best known to her. Little did we know that the chubby looking actress have dumped her journalism career to become a successful and popular porn-star.

Mareme said people are mistaking the porn industry for commercial sex or prostitution, claiming they are quite different professions and getting people to understand that her personality is different from her chosen career has become a herculean task for her.

“People mistake me for a sex worker, I am a porn actress. Because you watched my video from an x-rated website doesn’t mean I have sex with everybody I meet,” she explains.

She added that in the porn industry, so many protocols are followed before an actor or actress can participate, including conducting tests.

The Nigerian porn actress said videos are posted on x-rated websites to generate views and per-click cost. She said videos are also sold to other x-rated websites. All these complement the amount paid for acting in a porn scene.

Mareme called for a professional porn industry in Nigeria that would be able to compete with the international industry.

In an exclusive interview she granted recently, Mareme revealed: “I am a porn actress, I do adult entertainment movies or what is called porn films. I have been called a sex worker several times. People mistake me for those who have sex for money. I am an actress first and foremost and I get paid for acting aside enjoying what I do. Again, I have an opinion on who I choose to act with, there are protocols and several people are on the set, but many people don’t see it this way, they still feel, it’s money for sex.

The actress, who also features in regular home videos says the adult movie industry is quite lucrative and profitable. She says “Adult movie business is profitable, and actors or actresses can earn between $3,000 to $10,000 for a 5 minutes long video.

Uglygalz as she’s popularly called, was recently on the set of a Nollywood film without adult content. She features in the film alongside popular Nollywood actors as a regular actress and says she believes the sky is her limit.

As of 2014, young and single Uglygalz has slept with over 100 men and has been confirmed as one of the verified porn actresses and producers on a popular x-rated content website.
