Kayode Ojo greets teachers on World Teachers’ Day, pledging improved welfare, training and prompt salaries if elected as Ekiti governor.
Kayode Ojo has greeted teachers on World Teachers’ Day with a heartfelt pledge to improve their welfare if elected as the next governor of Ekiti State.
In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti to mark this year’s celebration, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant described teachers as “the true steam of societal development” whose roles in shaping children and youths remain invaluable.
“Teachers’ roles in modelling both children and youths towards nation building cannot be underestimated,” Ojo declared. “This is why their welfare must always be prioritised.”
Ojo, who is also the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), praised Ekiti’s teachers for their sacrifices in moulding students despite what he termed “systematic errors under the present administration.”
He pledged to create a more conducive environment for teachers by ensuring prompt salary payments, improved incentives, regular training and retraining, as well as well-deserved promotions.
“Teaching must be treated with respect and dignity because of its foundational role in developing society by inculcating academic and social values,” he stressed.
The APC hopeful commended President Bola Tinubu for prioritising teachers’ welfare as part of his government’s cardinal policies and urged state governors to complement the president’s initiative.
Ojo assured Ekiti teachers of renewed support if elected during the forthcoming APC primary and the 2026 governorship election, promising “better motivation and fair compensation to inspire excellence in classrooms across the state.”
