Keke Palmer, the versatile media personality, added a groundbreaking achievement to her list of accomplishments by securing the Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Game Show at the 75th Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The 30-year-old star made history by becoming the first woman in 15 years to clinch this prestigious award.
Palmer’s triumph was for her hosting role on NBC’s “Password,” a classic word game show that returned to screens in 2022 with a star-studded cast of celebrity guests. The actress, host, and producer expressed her excitement and gratitude during her acceptance speech at the ceremony held at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
In her speech, Palmer conveyed her gratitude to those who played a pivotal role in her success. “Wow. That is so exciting thank you so much. I’m just so thankful, I’m almost speechless,” she exclaimed. The actress went on to express her thanks to Jimmy Fallon and NBC for their support.
Jimmy Fallon, Palmer’s co-host on “Password,” also praised her remarkable qualities. “Sharp, charming, and quick-witted all while looking like a superstar. There’s no one like Keke Palmer,” Fallon remarked.
This year marked the first time the Outstanding Host for a Game Show category was integrated into the Primetime Emmys, having previously been part of the Daytime awards. Palmer’s win not only marked her as the first woman to secure this award in 15 years but also made her the first black woman ever to win or be nominated in this category.
Palmer’s journey as the host of “Password” alongside Jimmy Fallon began in 2022 when the iconic game show made a return with a fresh twist and celebrity guests. The show received acclaim, leading to its renewal for a second season.
On her Instagram, Palmer shared her excitement and appreciation for the award. “Couldn’t do it without you @jimmyfallon! I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of such a classic game show such as Password. It’s a true honor, I won! I’m excited, BOOTS! Thank you to the @televisionacad ✨,” she wrote alongside photos from the awards ceremony.
Palmer triumphed over strong contenders, including Steve Harvey (Family Feud), Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik (Jeopardy!), and Pat Sajak (Wheel of Fortune). This victory marked a historic moment not only for Palmer but also for diversity and representation in the world of game show hosting.
