The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senator-elect for the Kogi Central Senatorial District, with a Certificate of Return. Following this, she was sworn in as a member of the 10th Senate.

As the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate, Akpoti-Uduaghan becomes the first female senator from Kogi State.

After a court struggle with her opponent, All Progressives Congress member Abubakar Ohere, she emerged victorious (APC). The Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal, seated in Lokoja, pronounced Akpoti-Uduaghan the victor of the February senatorial election in September, nullifying Ohere’s victory.

She was administered the oath by the Clerk of the Senate at exactly 11:41am today .
