Ladi Adebutu Development Organization slams Governor Dapo Abiodun for alleged misuse of power over a demolition notice on Adebutu’s property

The Ladi Adebutu Development Organization has slammed Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for what it described as a reckless misuse of power, following the posting of a demolition notice on one of Hon. Ladi Adebutu’s properties in Ode Remo, Remo North Local Government.

In a strongly worded statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Afolabi Orekoya, the organisation said the notice issued by the Ogun State Ministry of Finance was not only unlawful but also contemptuous of ongoing court proceedings.

“This is nothing but a ploy to silence and harass the opposition in Ogun State,” the statement read.

“The government is using state power to intimidate Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu while distracting citizens from its failure to deliver good governance.”

The group explained that the property in question had been the subject of litigation since 2018, with two separate suits still pending before the High Court of Justice, Sagamu.

One of the cases, HCS/275/2018, is due for hearing on October 8, 2025, while the other, HCS/409/2024, has no fixed date.

Calling the government’s move “laughable and contemptuous of the judiciary,” the Ladi Adebutu Development Organization insisted that the Ministry of Finance lacked the legal authority to impose or enforce land use charges without proper assessment as stipulated under Ogun State law.

The notice, it added, was simply posted on the property without following due process, which is why the matter remains in court.

The organisation urged Governor Abiodun to stop “weaponizing government agencies against perceived political opponents” and instead focus on infrastructure, governance, and real service delivery.

“We call on the people of Ogun State to see through this intimidation tactic and remain resolute in the face of tyranny. Democracy cannot thrive when opposition voices are targeted with harassment and illegal enforcement actions,” the statement concluded.
