The crisis erupted on 13 January when Speaker Mudashiru Obasa was removed while on a trip to the United States, with Deputy Speaker Mojisola Lasbat Meranda replacing him.
Sources reveal that Ogunkelu, representing Epe 2, and Afinni, representing Lagos Island Constituency 2, are accused of damaging government property while retrieving the legislative mace—a symbol of authority—during the leadership change.
Reports indicate that the duo allegedly forced their way into the Clerk’s office, which was locked at the time, leading to destruction of state assets.
