Lagos Police hunt two women accused of assault and evidence destruction after an alleged same-sex encounter sparks legal and human rights debates

Security operatives in Lagos have launched an active manhunt for two women, Lasisi Rokibat Ajoke, 22 and Yetunde Biodun, who are reportedly wanted in connection with an alleged same-sex relationship, assault, and evidence tampering.

According to a statement from law enforcement sources, the incident allegedly took place at Rokibat’s residence somewhere in oke eletu, Ijede Ikorodu area of the state, where the duo was reportedly discovered in a compromising situation by a concerned resident.

Police reports indicate that the witness attempted to record the scene with his mobile phone, which allegedly prompted a physical confrontation with the women. He claimed that during the scuffle, they assaulted him, damaged his phone, and disposed of it in a dumpster to destroy evidence.

The women were invited for questioning, after which charges of assault, stealing, evidence destruction, and refusing lawful arrest were filed.

While Lasisi Rokibat and Yetunde were initially granted bail following their arraignment, authorities said the pair have failed to appear in court since then. Their absence has now prompted security agencies to declare them wanted and intensify efforts to locate and apprehend them.

Lagos State Police Command assured the public that the search is ongoing and called for information from the public that could lead to their arrest.

This case has sparked discussions around privacy, legal boundaries in personal conduct, and human rights, especially within the framework of Nigeria’s legal stance on same-sex relationships.

We will continue to monitor this developing story and provide updates as police investigations continue.
