In a midnight raid, the Lagos State Government apprehended 94 suspected criminals along the Agege rail tracks, recovering weapons and illicit substances.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Lagos State Government has apprehended 94 individuals suspected of criminal activities in a targeted midnight operation in the Agege area.
The raid, led by the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, was conducted along the rail track from Pen-Cinema under the bridge to Fagba junction, addressing concerns from residents and commuters about illegal squatters and criminal activity in the area.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed details of the operation in a statement on his X handle on Wednesday.
He reported that the raid began around 2:30 a.m., covering a distance of over five kilometres. During the operation, numerous shanties and illegal structures along the rail tracks were removed.
“94 suspects were apprehended during the midnight operation, and locally fabricated shotgun, several wraps of illicit substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, charms, as well as a jackknife were recovered,” Wahab said.
The commissioner confirmed that the suspects are set to face charges. The raid highlights the Lagos State Government’s commitment to ensuring public safety by tackling criminal elements and illegal structures across the state.
