The Lagos State Government has identified two residents caught disposing of trash in floodwater in the Ijesha community, located in the Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Wednesday.
The incident came to light when a photo shared on social media showed a man and a woman rolling a trash drum through the flooded water on their street.
The user, #Adetutuadeoye3, who posted the photo, alleged that the individuals were dumping their waste into the floodwater.

Commissioner Wahab responded to the post, thanking the user for bringing the issue to their attention. He mentioned tagging relevant authorities, saying, “Thank you for bringing it to our attention. @muyiwag @lawma_gov, please take note.”
Following this, Wahab confirmed that the building had been identified and the house was promptly locked by the Environmental Health Service Department of Itire-Ikate LCDA. “The house has been identified and locked immediately by the Environmental Health Service Department of Itire-Ikate LCDA,” he stated.
