The Lagos State Government through the Primary Health Care Board in collaboration with development partners, is set to commence a comprehensive door-to-door National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) campaign, spanning all local communities within the 57 LGAs/LCDAs, during November 2023.

According to the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa, the primary objective is to administer two drops of the Novel Oral Polio vaccine to all children aged 0 to 5 years irrespective of the previous vaccination status and HPV vaccine for children between 9 – 14 years for the protection against cervical cancer while another routine immunisation antigen would be made available to eligible children.

“This vaccination campaign aims to bolster the immunity of this target demographic against prevailing strains of Poliomyelitis and Human Papillomaviruses,” he added.

The vaccination exercise will commence on Saturday 25th to Tuesday 28ᵗʰ November 2023, beginning at 7 am daily.

Dr. Mustapha noted that these efforts would be undertaken at various locations where targeted children congregate, including residences, schools, places of worship (churches and mosques), primary health care centres, hospitals, Quranic schools, local markets, shopping malls and playgrounds among others.

He advised parents and caregivers to bring out their children/wards to be vaccinated during the exercise, emphasising that all vaccines being administered are safe, free and proven to be highly effective and can also be received in all the PHCs and at strategic fixed posts too
