Nigeria has bidden farewell to one of its distinguished aviation pioneers, Captain Ladi Odulaja, who passed away on December 12, 2023, in his Victoria Garden City home in Lagos.

With over three decades of experience in airline management and flying, Captain Odulaja left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s aviation landscape, earning recognition for his expertise and dedication.
His journey in aviation began at the prestigious Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), where he laid the groundwork for a career that would shape the nation’s skies.
His commitment to excellence led him to accumulate diverse flying experiences and undergo training on various aircraft types, including the Twin Otter, Hawker series (600 to 900), Boeing 737 series, Challenger 604, and Global Express 6000.
Throughout his illustrious career, Captain Odulaja lent his skills to prominent airlines, leaving his mark on Southern Air, Aero, Virgin Atlantic, and Arik. His contributions were not limited to the cockpit, as he held managerial positions in several local airlines, contributing to the growth and efficiency of the aviation sector in Nigeria.
Captain Odulaja’s entrepreneurial spirit manifested in the establishment of an aviation training school. His vision extended to the imminent completion of an aviation cargo school, reflecting his commitment to advancing aviation education in the country.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Captain Ladi Odulaja ventured into the realm of politics with aspirations to serve his people. While originally aspiring to be the governor of Ogun State, he later set his sights on the senatorial seat, embodying his dedication to public service.
In his passing, Captain Odulaja left behind a legacy of excellence, innovation, and service.
He is survived by his wife and children. May his soul rest in peace.
