Philip Agbese, the lawmaker representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency and deputy spokesperson of the House of Representatives, reportedly faced an attack by hoodlums during his constituency engagement in Igumale, the headquarters of Ado Local Government area in Benue State on Thursday, April 4.
According to reports from The Nation, the incident occurred while Agbese was participating in Easter festivities with members of his constituents. The gathering was abruptly disrupted when a group of youths armed with dangerous weapons such as clubs, knives, and cutlasses stormed the venue.
Despite the chaos, Agbese narrowly escaped harm as security personnel promptly intervened and whisked him away to safety.
Following the altercation, security agencies apprehended some of the hoodlums involved in the attack. An investigation into the incident has since commenced to ascertain the motive behind the assault and bring the perpetrators to justice.
