They emphasized that Chief Dorcas Adeyinka is a law-abiding citizen who has never evaded police invitations for questioning.
Signed by the managing partner of Law Corridor, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the statement clarified that the current issue stemmed from a social media dispute instigated by individuals who maliciously shared private images of their client online.
Seeking redress, she sought assistance from the police, only to face further harassment and attempts to silence her.
Highlighting previous incidents, the legal representatives noted that similar unfounded charges were brought against her in December of the previous year, only to be dismissed by the court due to lack of evidence.
Despite this, she was subsequently summoned for questioning by the Inspector General of Police’s Monitoring Unit in Abuja, where no substance was found in the allegations, and she was granted bail.
Regarding the recent proclamation of Adeyinka being wanted, the legal team emphasized that their client’s availability was evident, as she had attended a public event where she was decorated with a chieftaincy title on May 11, 2024.
They suggested that the declaration of her being wanted may indicate a misguidance within the Nigeria Police Force or an unauthorized access to official channels.
Her legal team has initiated contact with the appropriate channels to arrange a suitable date for her to comply with the investigative process.
The legal representatives expressed confidence in the judiciary system to uphold justice and fairness for all parties involved.
