Jandor and Jenifa

Nollywood actress and movie producer, Funke Akindele, who is popularly known as Jenifa, has been named as the running mate to Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor) by the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, in Lagos State.

This development didn’t come as a surprise as Akindele, who had been keeping a low profile following the crash of her second marriage to Abdulrasheed Bello (JJC Skillz), had been rumoured weeks back and dangled as the preferred candidate.

Though an already popular face in the entertainment industry, the PDP deputy governorship candidate became a household name through a comedy movie she produced and also acted in as the lead actor by name Jenifa.

In a video shared with Freelanews, Akindele stated that the new task ahead gives her a much bigger facet of service to humanity.

“With my known career in the entertainment industry spanning over 25years, and the God-given grace to achieve quite remarkable success, I’ve a privilege of access to work and engage with people from all works and strata of life,” she revealed.

Jenifa disclosed that within the last 25years, she had watched, with great concern, the plight of the less fortunate in Lagos.

While appealing to Lagosians to align with her, Akindele claimed her less popular but equally strong passions included to help, assist and contribute to the growth of youths, women and children.

The hardworking actress and founder of Jenifa Foundation revealed that being number two citizen of Lagos State is an opportunity to help liberate and improve the welfare of Lagosians from the stronghold of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC.

“My decision is not only accept this huge responsibility, but also to work tirelessly and complement Jandor’s burning desire to see our dear state of Lagos live up to its full potential with the people as immediate and direct beneficiaries,” she stated.
