Mandy Kiss ambassador appointment to Lagos anti-drug campaign draws debate as Commissioner Ogunlende defends her influence on youths
In a viral video on Tuesday, Ogunlende conferred the ambassadorship on Ayomiposi Oluwadahunsi, popularly known as Mandy Kiss, stressing that her vast social media reach made her an essential ally in tackling substance abuse among young people.

“We must work in collaboration with those who can reach as many people as possible, and we know Mandy Kiss has a large following,” he said, describing drug abuse as a “pandemic” that requires innovative solutions.
The decision comes weeks after the 25-year-old content creator drew outrage for publicly declaring her intention to attempt a Guinness World Record by sleeping with 100 men in 24 hours.
The plan was swiftly rejected by the record body and criticised by many Nigerians.
Ogunlende explained that the government chose to engage rather than condemn her, seeing it as an opportunity for redirection.
“With the powers conferred on me, I make her one of our brand ambassadors. Say no to drugs,” he declared.
In a statement posted on his social media pages, the Commissioner added: “A society thrives when it listens, engages, and redirects its future with compassion and purpose.
Mandykiss wields significant influence among young people, our future leaders, and it’s vital that she be guided rather than dismissed.”
He said what was meant to be the start of a controversial stunt had been transformed into “a pivotal moment of redirection.”
According to him, Mandy Kiss’s journey now reflects “transformation rather than cancellation,” a powerfully symbolic turn showing what is possible when empathy and opportunity replace rejection.
The unveiling echoes recent moves by the federal government to enlist celebrities in public campaigns.
In August, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo announced plans to engage Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, known as KWAM 1, to promote airport security compliance after controversy over his alleged misconduct at Abuja airport.
