A Dangote Cement trailer with faulty brakes crashes into Alapere Market, Epe, claiming lives, including schoolchildren and marketgoers

[dropcap]A[/dropcap] devastating accident occurred on Monday morning in Epe, Lagos State, when a Dangote Cement trailer reportedly lost control due to faulty brakes, crashing into the bustling Alapere Market and resulting in numerous fatalities.

Witnesses at the scene described the horrific sight as first responders and volunteers worked tirelessly to recover bodies, many of whom were children on their way to school and local residents shopping or trading in the market.

An eyewitness, visibly shaken, recounted how the incident unfolded in a matter of seconds, leaving little time for anyone in the market to react.

“It was so sudden. People were just going about their daily activities, and then the trailer came in with so much speed,” he said.

As at the time of this report, the exact number of casualties has yet to be confirmed.
