The Minister of Works, David Umahi, and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, inspected ongoing repairs on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Wednesday, using the facilities and ferries provided by the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA).

Accompanied by the General Manager of LASWA, Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, the trio embarked on a collaborative inspection tour of the Carter Bridge, Iddo-Marina Shoreline, and the Third Mainland Bridge through the Lagos inland waterways.
This isn’t the first instance of cabinet members and high-ranking Federal Government officials utilizing Lagos State Government’s waterway resources. Umahi had previously employed LASWA facilities and equipment in October to tour the 11.8-kilometer Third Mainland Bridge.
In March 2021, the Super Eagles of Nigeria traveled from the Five Cowries Terminal in Lagos, the LASWA headquarters, to Porto Novo, Benin Republic, using boat cruise services.
The recurrence of ministers and celebrities using LASWA facilities underscores the agency’s commendable management of the waterways, emphasizing the need to allow the agency to continue their positive efforts.
