The Dabengwa Data Centre, located in Lagos and launched in July, is among the nation’s largest prefabricated modular data centres.
Built using 96 prefabricated containers in its initial phase, it integrates AI-driven energy optimisation and hybrid cloud systems to deliver superior uptime and efficiency for enterprise clients.
MTN Nigeria CEO, Karl Toriola, praised the achievement on Thursday, stating: “This certification is a testament to the hard work, strategic focus, and collaboration across our teams and partners, in line with global best practices.
It reflects our commitment to building top-tier infrastructure that supports Nigeria’s digital future.”
The MTN Nigeria data centre now ranks among only four facilities in the country to have achieved both Tier III Design Documentation and Constructed Facility certifications — a benchmark that guarantees 99.982% availability, with no more than 1.6 hours of annual downtime.
Tier III certification assures multiple independent power and cooling paths, allowing maintenance without service disruption — a critical feature for enterprise operations demanding high availability.
As the first MTN Nigeria technical facility to attain this level of certification, the Dabengwa Data Centre strengthens the company’s reliability, resilience, and reputation in Nigeria’s fast-growing enterprise services market.
The milestone forms part of MTN’s broader Ambition 2025 Strategy, which places digital infrastructure at the core of Nigeria’s digital transformation.
According to the company, this success also supports its long-term goal of fostering inclusive innovation, business continuity, and scalable cloud solutions across the country.
