The pilots were sanctioned following a tarmac security breach at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport that disrupted a Lagos-bound flight.
NAAPE President Galadima Abednego acknowledged the captain’s discretion could have been better but condemned KWAM 1’s “crude and unruly” behaviour, calling for him to face the full weight of the law.
“While we note the captain’s less than optimal discretion, we totally condemn KWAM 1’s arrogant display,” Abednego said, urging a transparent and unbiased investigation.
The union praised the aviation minister and NCAA DG for swift action but maintained that safety and securitythe pillars of aviation were compromised by the musician, not the pilots.

The controversy comes after the ministry placed KWAM 1 on a no-fly list for allegedly holding passengers and crew “hostage.” The artiste initially denied wrongdoing but later expressed regret on social media.
