The Nollywood film industry is expanding at the same time that the Nigerian music industry advances, and this is a commendable feat. With popular movies/shows like King of Boys, Oloture, Blood & Water, How to Ruin Christmas, Young, Famous and African, and many more, the African titles on Netflix have been gaining popularity. Another movie called “Ijogbon” will soon be released on the streaming juggernaut.

Nollywood: Netflix Naija Set To Release Anticipated Kunle Afolayan’S ‘Ijogbon’ In October, Yours Truly, Top Stories, October 11, 2023 Kunle Afolayan, one of Nigeria’s top film directors, is the producer of this coming-of-age family adventure. The date of release is slated for October 13, 2023.

Ijogbon is a story about four youths from the south-west of Nigeria who unearth a bag of uncut diamonds and deal with the repercussions of their discovery. It was written by Tunde Babalola and produced by KAP Motion Pictures. In addition to experienced performers like Gabriel Afolayan, Sam Dede, Adunni Ade, Dorathy Bachor, Yemi Solade, and many more, the movie also stars newcomers like Fawaz Aina of Ikorodu Bois, Ruby Akubueze, Seyi Ebiesuwa, and Kayode Ojulope.

The Afolayan Brothers are seasoned performers who have appeared in films including Anikulapo, The Figurine, Citation, Swallow, and October 1st, all of which won awards.

The African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) nominated the Yoruba mythological film Anikulapo for 16 awards, including Best Overall Film, Best Makeup, Cinematography, and other categories. Temi Otedola’s Citation received Best International Film at the 2022 National Film Awards UK. There is little doubt that Ijogbon’s aspirations are undoubtedly going to be met by Kunle Afolayan.
