The Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Council area of Ekiti State, Oba Adeniyi Ajakaiye, has said that peace, security and the growth witnessed in the community in the last one year were the essence of his coronation anniversary celebration.

Oba Ajakaiye, who said nothing like killings, abductions or life-threatening heinous crimes had been reported in the community since his ascension to the throne, said such was a function of the water-tight security arrangement in place.

The traditional ruler, who spoke at a press briefing heralding activities for his weeklong one year coronation celebrations which would begin on Monday, said, “Apart from the uplift which the palace had witnessed in the last one year, we have been networking with our sons and daughters at home and in the Diasporas and the result is all over the place in the town.

“We have lighted up the heart of the town with solar-powered street lights courtesy of our sons and daughters. This has made the town attractive at

The Secretary of the Oluyin-in-Council and the Ojumu of Iyin Ekiti, Chief Opeyemi Arije, who corroborated the traditional ruler, noted that “this town has witnessed tremendous peace and development in the last one year of Oba Ajakaiye’s reign”.

Arije said, “We are witnessing new dimension to obaship in our town. In addition to facelift of the palace, Kabiyesi has also facilitated infrastructures including no fewer than five motorized bore holes donated by indigenes, support for the creation of LCDA and equipping its Secretariat as well as ensuring that the only bank in the town was reopened six months after it was attacked by armed robbers.”

Among activities for the coronation anniversary, according to Arije, are free medical and surgical mission, traditional displays, launch of N500million Palace Development Fund and conferment of chieftaincy titles on some eminent personalities including indigenes in recognition of their contribution to the community and the country.

The Oluyin-in-Council scribe called on sons and daughters of the town both home and abroad to always contribute their quotas to the development of Iyin Ekiti.
