The high-profile visit underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening international broadcast collaborations and embracing cutting-edge innovations in media technology.

Running from 5 to 9 April, NAB 2025 carries the theme “The Technology, The Trend, The Future,” and features deep dives into emerging topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cloud visualisation, the creator economy, and advancements in sports production and streaming.

Joining the Minister are key figures from Nigeria’s broadcasting landscape, including:

  • Comrade Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, Director-General/CEO of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA)
  • Mr. Ali Muhammed Ali, Managing Director/CEO of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)
  • Charles Ebuebu, Director-General/CEO of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC)
  • Dr. Lekan Fadolapo, Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON)
  • Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, Director-General/CEO of Voice of Nigeria (VON)

The annual NAB Conference is one of the world’s most influential gatherings for broadcasting professionals, attracting thousands of media executives, content creators, and technology providers.

This year’s edition offers a platform for Nigeria to form strategic partnerships, engage in cross-border content-sharing initiatives, and explore global best practices that can be adapted to the local media environment.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Minister Idris highlighted the importance of this engagement in repositioning Nigeria’s broadcast industry.

“Our participation at NAB 2025 is a strategic move to ensure Nigeria is not left behind in the fast-evolving world of broadcast technology and media convergence,” he said. “We are here to learn, network, and attract collaborations that will drive innovation in our industry.”

The Nigerian delegation’s mission also includes scouting for training opportunities, adopting innovative broadcast models, and enhancing regulatory frameworks that will support a more competitive and future-ready media sector back home.

With topics such as AI integration and the monetisation of digital content taking centre stage, NAB 2025 provides a timely opportunity for Nigeria’s media agencies to assess global trends and implement forward-thinking strategies tailored to local needs.
