[dropcap]S[/dropcap]heriff Balogun, the incoming National President of the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce, has highlighted the need for improved trade relations between Nigeria and the United States.

Speaking in an interview with CNBC Africa, Balogun described the declining trade deficit as a positive development but stressed the importance of achieving a balanced trade relationship.
“The decreasing trade deficit with the U.S. is a good sign, but we must work towards a balanced trade structure that benefits both nations,” Balogun stated.
As Nigeria seeks to expand its global trade footprint, he emphasised the need for stronger economic ties, improved investment opportunities, and policy frameworks that enhance exports to the U.S.
His remarks come at a time when Nigeria is actively engaging in trade diversification efforts to boost economic growth.
Balogun’s leadership at the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral trade,
fostering business partnerships, and advocating policies that enhance Nigeria’s trade competitiveness on the global stage.
