[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted thunderstorms and rains across various regions in Nigeria from Wednesday through Friday.

The weather outlook, released on Tuesday in Abuja, predicted thunderstorms in parts of Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, Katsina, Sokoto, and Kaduna States on Wednesday morning.

In the northern region, thunderstorms are expected to extend into the afternoon and evening hours, affecting Kano, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Jigawa States.

Similarly, the North Central region is anticipated to experience thunderstorms over the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, and Niger States, with additional storms predicted later in the day over Benue, Kogi, and Kwara States.

In the southern region, states like Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, and Lagos are likely to witness thunderstorms in the morning, with intermittent rains expected over Enugu, Anambra, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States later in the day.

NiMet also issued warnings of urban flooding in major cities due to heavy downpours, urging residents to avoid flood-prone areas.

It further advised the public to stay informed through weather updates and airline operators to consult airport-specific weather reports for operational safety.

As the week progresses, the northern region will continue to experience thunderstorms, particularly in Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, and Gombe States.

In the southern cities, cloudy skies will give way to thunderstorms and intermittent rains in coastal areas.

NiMet recommends that the public take precautions against potential flooding and adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities.
