NSC sports sector repositioning

The NSC has reassigned 57 sports officials to revitalise the sector, fostering innovation, grassroots development, and economic growth.

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has initiated a significant reshuffle of personnel, aimed at repositioning the nation’s sports sector for growth and innovation.

In a strategic move to enhance efficiency, 57 Secretaries-General and officers have been reassigned to various National Sports Federations.

Olumide Bamiduro, Director of Federation of Elite Athletes at the NSC, revealed the development in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.

He explained that the decision aligns with the vision of NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and Director-General Bukola Olopade to revitalise the sports industry.

“The mandate is clear,” Bamiduro emphasised. “We are undertaking these changes to achieve tangible results and position the industry to attract private and corporate investments, thereby driving the growth of our sports economy.”

The NSC has tasked the Federation Establishment and Appointment Department with overseeing the implementation of the new postings.

This directive reflects the Commission’s strong commitment to improving the functionality and performance of sports federations across the country.

The reassigned officials are expected to play critical roles in steering the sports sector towards a new direction, prioritising innovation, grassroots and elite development, as well as economic advancement.

Some of the sports federations affected by this reshuffle include Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Boxing, Cricket, Table Tennis, Volleyball, and Wrestling, among others.

By redistributing experienced professionals, the NSC aims to strengthen these organisations’ operational capacities and their ability to develop talent at all levels.

This strategic reassignment marks a pivotal step in the NSC’s efforts to transform the sports sector into a thriving industry that contributes significantly to the nation’s economy.
