The video, which Chidi shared on TikTok, featured him confidently declaring his inheritance status with the caption: “Nothing do my shoulder, I just realize say I be next of kin.” The post quickly went viral, igniting a wave of social media commentary and speculation.
In what appeared to be a light-hearted yet pointed reaction, Obi Cubana took to Instagram to share a photo of himself with his biological son, Alex, writing: “Ancient and modern, eyes on the ball.
@dtwalx aka next of kin.”*Alex cheekily responded in the comments, “Using my headphones right now,” to which Cubana replied, “Correct boy, original next-of-kin.”
“In today’s social media age, even the most innocent post can spiral into public debate. It’s a reminder of the fine line between humour and family sensitivity,” said a media analyst following the story.
While some fans saw the exchange as playful, others criticised the approach, suggesting the issue should have been handled privately.
One X user, @Abazwhyllzz, commented, “Unnecessary. He should have told the guy to delete on TikTok, then solved it internally…”
Public reactions ranged from sympathy for Chidi to criticism of perceived family dynamics. Some defended the young man, suggesting he meant no harm, while others felt the situation was mishandled.
