Nigerians were not particularly happy with the executive governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, when he announced on Twitter of his visitation to the troubled Sasa community in the state.

Recall that violent clash erupted in the community when the locals and Hausa community battled leading to the death of some residents, destruction of properties, and displacement of people in the area.

In the company of his Ondo State counterpart, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Makinde visited the troubled community on Sunday and appealed for calm and peaceful coexistence between the Hausa community and their Yoruba hosts.

The two governors pleaded with elders among the locals in the area to call the youth to order as efforts are being intensified by government to find lasting solution to the avoidable violence which occurred last Friday.

Speaking at the market, the governor promised to give palliatives to those whose wares were affected during the crisis, adding that the two factions have to eschew violence and allow peace to reign.

However, Nigerians were miffed for the number of days it took the governor to visit the troubled zone with the belief that the former governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, would have been more proactive.

Oga, go sidan. I trust my CONSTITUTED AUTHORITY. Akanji funra re, may your souls continue to Rest In Peace. Who born monkey of those you called perpetrators?

— Mr 🇳🇬🕘 (@MrNigeri) February 14, 2021

Your Excellency, I and my family are praying for your success. But I think there is need for an executive order to curb all this menace in the state with respect to security. You need to be tough like a lion to make the Hoodlums and people causing trouble to think twice. ✌️

— Olawale Awotide (@olawale_awotide) February 14, 2021

Since Friday Mr governor, you have to be proactive. That’s why u are d governor, to protect the lives and properties of the state.

After Day4? Do better on intelligence. Task your team! Security forces should be present on scene of any crime almost immediately! Do better

— BigdaddyFresh (@AdeleAdefemi12) February 14, 2021

You were initially so different from the pack, but you have now derailed. Second term will be a MIRAGE!

— Festus_gfd (@GFA_SQ) February 14, 2021

Sir! You need advisers that will restore the Governor in YOU… This is all time low… Thoughts and prayers to everyone who are directly affected

— Ayofe (@SalimAyofe) February 14, 2021

But while not all was against the timing, some believed the visitation was right on time.

You have turned up at the exact time you're needed just like you've always done. Kindly take proactive steps to avert future inevitable ethnic clashes as Oyo state is cosmopolitan.
Keep standing by the constitution and respecting humans rights of movement

Favorite southwestern governor so far, you the best sir.

— ADEMOLA 👑. (@hello_Ade) February 14, 2021

Thank you Mr Governor @seyiamakinde …peace ✌️ is beginning to be a scarce commodity in Nigeria but you are upholding peace ✌️ in our state. Really inspiring! We don't want ethnic war in our state. Peace and love is all we must embrace.
