The price of petrol was recently raised from N617 per litre to N897 per litre, sparking widespread concern among citizens. Oguntoyinbo urged Tinubu, who also serves as the Minister of Petroleum, to swiftly address the situation and prevent further economic instability.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Oguntoyinbo expressed his dismay over the price hike and called for the dissolution of the NNPC management under Mele Kyari. He criticised the current administration of the NNPC, accusing them of mishandling Nigeria’s oil resources and making unilateral decisions that adversely affect the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
“I urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rein in the NNPC and restore the previous fuel price. Oil is our national inheritance, and it should not be controlled by a few individuals who are currently mismanaging our resources,” Oguntoyinbo stated.
He reminded President Tinubu of his past protests against fuel price increases and urged him to take a stand against what he perceives as a sabotage of the nation’s economy.
He warned that if the situation is not addressed promptly, it could lead to further economic challenges and potential unrest.
