As reactions continue to trail the drama that occurred today, Sunday, July 5, 2020, when the deputy governor of Oyo State, Rauf Olaniyan, was denied access to the fidau prayer of the late former governor of the state, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, the ruling party in the state, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has stated that the excuse given was not tenable.
Freelanews reported how the deputy governor, in company of the state’s Head of Service, and some commissioners, were prevented from attending the event as the ‘gate key was with madam (Florence Ajimobi)’.
The party, through its publicity secretary, Akeem Olatunji, who claimed the excuse was authored by the opposition party’s media team, maintained that the Ajimobi family knew ahead that the deputy governor would be gracing the occasion.
“To the unsuspecting members of the public, kindly disregard APC Media Team Press Release in its entirety.
“It wasn’t a private family affair because Otunba Alao Adebayo Akala and many others were there, and the family was well informed in advance that the Deputy Governor would be leading the government delegation to the event,” he said.
Olatunji, however, pointedly accused the former first lady of being responsibly for the fiasco.
“It was reported that the security personnel at the gate informed the Government delegation that there was an order from Madam not to allow the Government delegation into the venue,” he insisted.
The party’s scribe then praised the deputy governor for displaying high level of maturity and Omoluabi ethos ‘that he and His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde are known for’.
“The more the Governor try to extend hands of friendship the more they (Ajimobi’s family) rebuff his good gesture,” he lamented.
