[dropcap]A[/dropcap]t the 40th Convention of Junior Chambers International (JCI) Ikeja, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Senator representing Ogun East and former Governor of Ogun State, called on southern politicians to emulate the unity and collaboration seen in the North and East.
Speaking at Chrisland School, Opebi, Ikeja, on September 14, the politician stressed the importance of unity in achieving political success.
Otunba Daniel, a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, reflected on his experiences, emphasising how the camaraderie among Northern politicians has contributed to their dominance.
He recounted a recent example of Vice President Kashim Shettima and Atiku Abubakar travelling together to the funeral of Dada Yar’Adua, despite being political rivals, demonstrating the North’s deep-rooted political unity.
He also highlighted the mentorship culture in the Igbo business community, where successful businessmen nurture young apprentices, ensuring their collective growth.
This, he noted, contrasts with the South, where political and business figures often fail to build strong mentorship ties.
Daniel lamented that many southern organisations collapse after their founders die, pointing to the lack of collaboration and mentorship.
The senator encouraged the members of JCI Ikeja to build strong networks and support one another as they advance in their careers, emphasising that unity and accountability are vital for long-term success.
