Speaking during the November Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption City, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) made a passionate appeal for urgent diplomacy and national action.
Adeboye, who expressed deep concern over the alleged “Christian genocide” narrative and the threat from U.S. President Donald Trump, advised Tinubu to seek a 100-day grace to restore stability.
He called on the Nigerian government to combine wisdom and diplomacy in addressing both internal and external pressures.
“If I were to make suggestions,” Adeboye said, “I would tell our leaders to act wisely and diplomatically.
Convince the President of America to delay his actions for about 100 days, and then direct the Service Chiefs to eliminate terrorism within 90 days or resign.”
The cleric stressed that the nation could not afford to act rashly in dealing with foreign powers. “When I say our leaders should move diplomatically,” he cautioned, “it’s because if America attacks us, no other country—China, Russia, or Britain—will defend Nigeria. They will only talk.”
Adeboye also criticised the Tinubu administration for what he described as disconnected assessments of Nigeria’s security situation.
Referring to Tinubu as his in-law, he said, “I almost spoke last month when I heard him say all is well now and that displaced people have returned home. Whoever wrote that speech does not love him because that is far from the truth.”
Recalling past efforts to combat insecurity, Adeboye referenced former President Muhammadu Buhari’s failed directive to Service Chiefs to end terrorism. He urged Tinubu to learn from that episode and ensure accountability.
“When giving orders,” Adeboye advised, “the President should insist that Service Chiefs not only eliminate terrorists but also their sponsors—no matter how influential they may be.”
The revered cleric noted that while he has previously met with Nigerian presidents to discuss the country’s challenges, his role remains advisory.
“You can only advise a Commander-in-Chief; you cannot command him. But I have done my best. God is my witness,” he said.

Adeboye’s message, delivered with characteristic calm and conviction, carried a powerful warning and a plea for unity. “Nigeria must move fast, wisely, and prayerfully,” he said. “If diplomacy fails, we all fail.”
