Paul Pogba turned down Manchester City for Juventus

Paul Pogba reveals he rejected Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City offer, opting to stay loyal to Juventus, despite transfer speculation and interest.

French midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed that he turned down a move to Manchester City under Pep Guardiola to remain loyal to Juventus during the last transfer window.

The 2018 World Cup winner, currently playing for Juventus, shared this revelation in an interview with Gazzetta.

According to a post on Fabrizio Romano’s X handle, Pogba confirmed the rumours about Guardiola’s approach. “Yes, I turned down Pep Guardiola’s approach to accept the Juventus proposal. That story is true,” Pogba said.

Pogba also dismissed any possibility of joining Juventus’ Serie A rivals, AC Milan. He emphasised his unwavering loyalty to Juventus, even if AC Milan’s senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimović were to personally reach out to him.

“Will I join AC Milan? Impossible. Even if Ibrahimović calls me, he knows I won’t betray Juve. I do not see myself with any other jersey. My focus is on getting back into the Juve shirt,” Pogba told Sky Sport.

The 31-year-old is currently serving an 18-month suspension after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced his original four-year doping ban. Pogba will be eligible to play again from January 2025.

In the meantime, there have been suggestions of ongoing negotiations between Pogba and Juventus concerning the termination of his contract, sparking speculation about his future. European clubs, including Marseille, have been linked with the Frenchman.

Pogba’s commitment to Juventus remains firm despite these links, and the player appears focused on returning to the pitch in the black and white jersey.
