PDP FCT Chairman Dogara urges candidates to prioritise party unity over ambition ahead of 2026 elections. Candidates receive INEC forms and pledge cooperation
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mohammed Dogara, has called on candidates contesting the 2026 Area Council elections to prioritise the interests of the party over personal ambition.

Dogara gave the charge on Monday while presenting INEC nomination forms to the PDP’s chairmanship and councillorship candidates.
He emphasised that internal disunity or unchecked ambition could cost the party victory at the polls.
“I’ve said it time without number—this party is too big to be silent, and that is why we will not be silent,” Dogara said. “Please, our candidates, yours is to win the election. Personal ambition must not override the party’s collective goal.”
He stressed that the party leadership would not interfere in the selection of vice chairmanship candidates, urging candidates to select popular and electable running mates capable of delivering victory.
“Let us look for the person that is popular enough to gain votes for us. We are not going to interfere, but please go and do justice,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the candidates, Kasim Mohammed, the PDP chairmanship candidate for Gwagwalada Area Council, thanked the party leadership and called for unity within the PDP ahead of the 2026 polls.
“We are never scared because we know politics is about the people, and this party is the people’s party,” Mohammed said. “But we must close every gap that might hinder our chances before the election.”
