The police in Oyo State, southwest Nigeria, on Friday, declared the sacked Chairman of the Oyo State Park Management System (PMS), Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, wanted.

The police authorities made this known at a media briefing.

The police said they conducted another raid on Auxiliary’s hotel in Ibadan where more dangerous weapons were recovered.

Freelanews had reported that the police had called on members of transport unions in the state to surrender all the unauthorised weapons in their custody at the police stations closest to them.

This was after the operatives of the state police command had raided Diamond Hotel, Alakia, Ibadan, Oyo State, belonging to the former chairman of PMS in the state, Auxiliary and recovered some guns, ammunition and charms.

Some of the things recovered from Auxiliary’s place were 474 bullets, cutlasses and a huge amount of cash, but Auxiliary has been on the run since the raid.

The state police commissioner, Adebowale Williams, said this on Thursday at the Park Management System Town Hall meeting in Ibadan, the state capital.

The Commissioner said any of them who voluntarily surrenders their arms and ammunition will not be arrested or prosecuted, adding, “Nobody is allowed to be with an unauthorised weapon. This includes daggers, guns, machetes, and criminal charms. Nobody has the power to move around with weapons, it’s not allowed.”

During the week, the state police command said it arrested 78 members of PMS who were planning to unleash wide-scale civil disturbance in the state.

A police source who was part of the operation revealed that the chairman of PMS in the state fled when he saw the heavy presence of police in his hotel.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Osifeso Adewale, said, “Sequel to the above, on Tuesday 30/05/2023 in a strategic intelligence coordinated raid around his location at Diamond Hotel, Alakia-Isebo, under Egbeda LGA, (78) Seventy-Eight suspected hoodlums who had perfected plans to unleash mayhem at the early hours of today at Major parts of the Metropolis were arrested in possession of sophisticated firearms, (724) Seven Hundred and Twenty-four Cartridges assorted charms, (33) Thirty-three Mobile Phones, and a cash sum of about (N3,450,000) Three Million Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira Only.

“In addition, during the raid sophisticated firearms were recovered inside the hotel rooms and in the trunk compartment of parked vehicles within the hotel.”

The PPRO explained that though the PMS Chieftain was able to escape, one of his boys was killed during a gun duel with the police.
