Recall that PSquare’s Okoye quickly put out a tweet after Kuti was declared wanted when a video of him slapping a police officer surfaced on the internet.
“Quite an unfortunate incident and from reports, it seems Seun’s family was in danger hence the altercation.
“When you understand what happens when a man is put in a situation to protect his family from any form of danger, our emotions get the better of us.
“I ask and plead that the #NigerianPoliceForce accept our unreserved apologies for the unfortunate outburst and tamper justice with mercy,” said Okoye, while reacting to the matter on Sunday.
His tweet generated mixed reactions especially when it is an established fact that there was no love lost between Okoye and Kuti. In February, both artistes engaged in a war of words over politics.
Kuti had referred to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, whom the Okoye brothers had been ardent supporters of, as an opportunist who can’t save Nigeria. He also took a hit at Okoye, calling him an “indecisive person” while also mocking his career.
Okoye fired back at Kuti by downplaying his standing in the music industry.
However, Hundeyin, in his reaction to the deletion, praised Okoye for his decision and stressed that no one should condone criminality.
“I commend @PeterPsquare for deleting all his tweets giving tacit support for assault on police officers. Way to go. 👍🏼 No one should condone criminality.”
