President Bola Tinubu has issued a cautionary message to the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), advising them to prioritize peace and desist from incessant strikes, emphasizing that they do not solely represent the voice of Nigerians.

Tinubu made these remarks during the commissioning of the Lagos Red Line rail project on Thursday, February 29.
The Nigeria Labour Congress, alongside other affiliated unions, had staged protests on Tuesday, February 27, citing concerns over the high cost of living, inflation, insecurity, and general hardships faced by citizens across the nation.
In response to the protests, Tinubu stated, “Allow me to throw a jab here. The Labour Union should understand that you’re not the only one with freedom & rights. If you want to participate in the electoral process, meet us in 2027. If not, maintain peace. You’re not the only voice of Nigeria.”
Tinubu’s remarks underscore the need for constructive engagement and dialogue between the government and labor unions to address the challenges facing the country.
The call for peace comes amidst heightened tensions and socio-economic uncertainties, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in navigating through these challenging times.
