The centre, officially named after First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was inaugurated on Wednesday to much acclaim from political and public health stakeholders.
The facility features digital health systems and electronic medical records, replacing what was previously a temporary structure. Its design and delivery reflect the LCDA’s commitment to inclusive healthcare.
The President’s wife, represented at the event by Hajiya Nana Shettima, expressed admiration for the initiative and described it as a benchmark in responsive governance.
“True progress begins when we treat healthcare as a right, not a privilege,” she said on behalf of Senator Tinubu.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s wife, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, commended the local government for investing in people’s well-being.
She highlighted the facility as an example of the benefits of President Bola Tinubu’s policy on local government autonomy.
Dr Sanwo-Olu also announced a new remuneration package for medical professionals in Lagos.
“Doctors working here will earn N800,000 monthly from June 2025,” she revealed, calling the move strategic in attracting top medical talent. Residents, she added, are already accessing free cancer, HIV, malaria and eye screenings.
The LCDA Chairman, Fuad Atanda-Lawal, said the primary healthcare centre Lagos project was a direct result of bold economic reforms and empowered local governance.
“This is not just a building. It is a declaration that healthcare is empowerment,” he said. “It is one of many projects we’ve delivered recently, all aimed at improving the lives of our people.”
He emphasised that local councils, when granted autonomy, can execute life-changing projects swiftly and transparently.
He described the newly named Senator Oluremi Tinubu Health Care Centre as a flagship symbol of people-centred development.
