Prophet Ebuka Obi house testimony

Prophet Ebuka Obi of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach disowns a woman who falsely testified about buying a ₦500m house, calling it a lie

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]rophet Ebuka Obi, the leader of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, has publicly distanced himself from a woman who recently claimed during a church testimony that she had purchased a house worth ₦500 million.

In a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) since Sunday, the cleric firmly denied any personal connection to the woman. He accused her of lying against God and the church’s altar, making it clear that her testimony was fabricated.

The woman’s testimony initially gained widespread attention, but subsequent revelations suggested that she had made false claims, leading to significant backlash online.

Many social media users questioned the authenticity of her story, prompting Prophet Obi to address the situation directly.

Speaking to his congregation, Obi dismissed any ties to the woman and emphasised that she was just one of many people who come forward to share testimonies at his church.

He reiterated that her alleged deception was solely her responsibility and not a reflection of his ministry.

“I said it last month that my name would be all over the media. I said the media would be shaking, making it look real, but it’s all fake,” Obi stated.

He further claimed that some bloggers had been sponsored to spread misleading narratives about him and his ministry.

“I heard from clergymen in the East that bloggers were sponsored. Now, do I know her? Does any member know her? She came to testify, just like hundreds of others who come here daily,” he explained.

Obi clarified that if the woman’s claim of owning a ₦500 million house was false, then she alone was accountable for her actions.

“If the house she claimed to own is fake, then it is her who lied before God and His altar — not the ministry,” he concluded.

The incident has sparked discussions on social media, with many questioning the rise of exaggerated testimonies in religious gatherings.

While some have defended the church, others have criticised the lack of verification before such testimonies are shared publicly.

Despite the controversy, Zion Prayer Movement Outreach continues its regular activities, including its recently announced end-of-year programme.
