A protest began at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja today, members of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) organized their members.
After the attack on Mr. Joe Ajaero, the President of the NLC, it was learned that the demonstration is a part of a series of actions that the two labor centers hope to focus on Imo state.
On Tuesday, the NLC and TUC had declared a nationwide strike which will commence on Tuesday, November 14th, also because of the face-off with the Imo State Government.
The workers’ unions have commenced the procession, as they all file out in a convoy heading to the airport. The protesters blocked both the entry and exit way of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The protesters attempted to go into the airport, but were stopped by the military at the checkpoint. As a result of the refusal, the protesters blocked the entry and exit point of the airport, causing heavy traffic of vehicles on both sides thereby forcing travelers to make their way into the airport on foot.
