Retirees relying on African Alliance Insurance PLC pensions express frustration over non-payment since January 2024, impacting their livelihoods.

[dropcap]R[/dropcap]etirees receiving pensions from African Alliance Insurance PLC are facing serious challenges due to the non-payment of their pensions since January 2024.

Despite directives from the National Insurance Commission (NIC) in July to resolve the backlog, the retirees’ claims remain unsettled.

Some, like Omotayo Clement, have endured immense hardship, borrowing from friends and struggling with basic needs. Clement’s wife is also bedridden following a stroke, adding to their woes.

Solomon Oyedele, another retiree from the Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, echoed similar frustrations.

He noted that the economic hardship has worsened, with retirees feeling as though they have been abandoned. Oyedele explained that payments had been irregular, with only brief relief in April and no communication since.

Retirees have repeatedly contacted African Alliance Insurance, but their calls and messages remain unanswered.

Efforts to reach African Alliance Insurance for comments on the issue have been unsuccessful, as the company has not responded to calls or emails.

The ongoing delay continues to affect the lives of retirees dependent on their pensions.
