More information has emerged about the genuine identity of Chidinma Ojukwu, a 300-level Mass Communication student at the University of Lagos, who admitted to stabbing the CEO of Super TV, Usifo Ataga, to death when they were in a Service flat in the Lekki region of Lagos State.

Family sources suggest that Chidinma, who is not from a broken home as she said, absconded her family many years ago owing to a dispute with her widowed mother.
According to family sources, her first step after the break with her mother was to alter her name from Chidinma Blessing Echefu to Chidinma Adaora Ojukwu.

Chioma, one of her siblings, informed detectives that they lost their father when Chidinma was only two years old. Her mother was rumored to have remarried, but her children remained with her.
Chidinma’s lifestyle reportedly deteriorated over time, with her mother constantly chastising her.
She was said to have started smoking when she was just 11 years old, which prompted her mother to scold her.

According to family accounts, the dispute between Chidinma and her mother persisted, leading her to take the then-teenage Chidinma to her Uncle’s residence in Mushin, where she was reportedly booted out again for her smoking attitude. She was said to have turned rebellious and to have distanced herself from her family. It was at this point that she met Ojukwu, who led her into his Yaba residence, where she was picked up last Wednesday.

Her mother, who currently lives in Ogun State’s Mowe area, is claimed to have told some of her relatives that she hasn’t seen Chidinma in ten years. Chioma, Childinma’s sister, visited the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, in Yaba and confirmed this assertion.

She revealed definitely that the Ojukwu with whom she was arrested last week Wednesday was not related to her family, revealing that they were from Imo State, not Abia State, as Chidinma had previously stated.

Chidinma is now in the custody of the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID Lagos.
