The event, held on 30 August at Sir Adetokunbo Ademola Hall, Nigerian Law School, Lagos, blended tradition, philanthropy, and bold new commitments.
An accomplished engineer with more than 21 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Chukwu pledged to lead with unity, compassion, and purpose.
“We are called not just to do good, but to unite for good; to bring people together across lines of difference, across boundaries of geography, culture and status; to serve humanity with one heart and one purpose,” he said in his acceptance speech.
Chukwu highlighted ongoing projects that span Rotary’s seven Areas of Focus. These include support for inmates at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, such as palliative distributions and sponsoring the release of 10 inmates with minor cases.
In healthcare, the club has sponsored breast cancer screening, donated wheelchairs and crutches to patients at the General Hospital, Odan, and launched its flagship initiative a multi-million naira refurbishment and furnishing of Wards C1 and C2 at the General Hospital.
This star project will add 40 new beds, boosting access to quality healthcare in Lagos.
The education sector has also benefited, with scholarships awarded to 15 students and interschool debates supported across four secondary schools.
In addition, artisans have been empowered with start-up equipment to help them launch their trades after training.
The colourful investiture ceremony featured cultural performances, the induction of new members, and generous donations to sustain service projects.
Rotarian Chukwu was also decorated as a Major Donor to the Rotary International Foundation, recognising his contribution of at least \$10,000.
