Sagamu mourns the loss of political matriarch Alhaja Mujidat Ogunnaike, who passed away this morning at age 83

She died this morning at the age of 83, leaving behind a legacy of impactful leadership and community service.
Widely respected across political circles in Ogun State, Ogunnaike was known for her unwavering dedication to grassroots mobilisation and women empowerment within Sagamu and beyond.
Her passing marks the end of an era for many in the local political landscape.
The Gateway Movement, Sagamu LG, confirmed her death in an official announcement released today.
“Alhaja Mujidat Ogunnaike’s influence in Sagamu politics was legendary. Her strength, guidance, and wisdom shaped many leaders,” the group stated.
Burial arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
The late political icon was the Iyalode of Akarigbo, Yeye Oba of Fojege, Yeye Atunobase of Ode-Lemo and Otunba Fiwagboye of Emuren.
Her departure has thrown the Sagamu community into mourning, as tributes continue to pour in from political associates, community leaders, and admirers.

“She was not just a leader; she was a mother to the movement and a symbol of courage and service,” a Gateway Movement spokesperson said.
