Eyewitnesses reported that three armed men forced Oriade into a blue vehicle around 7 p.m., taking his mobile phone before fleeing in an unknown direction.
Confirming the incident, Hon. Tolani Adigun, a chieftain of the APC and former House of Assembly candidate for Ibadan Southwest Constituency 1, condemned the abduction as “unacceptable” and a stark reminder of the escalating insecurity in the nation.
Adigun called on both state and federal security agencies to deploy every necessary resource to ensure Oriade’s safe rescue.
She emphasised that criminal activities must not be allowed to take root in Oyo State and highlighted the urgent need to strengthen the state’s security architecture, enhance intelligence sharing, and safeguard residents’ lives and property.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Hon. Oriade’s family during this difficult time,” Adigun said, urging party members and the public to remain calm while security operatives intensify efforts to secure his release.
She reiterated that Oyo State “must not be surrendered to criminals” and prayed for Oriade’s safe return.
