The officials of the National Drugs and Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested Emeka Nzewi and his accomplices for illegal drugs production.

According to the intel made available to Freelanews, the arrest was made after the drug agency carried out a sting operation at K-5A/2, Road 14, Victoria Garden City, a gated residential Lekki community in Lagos.

Our correspondent was informed that the Nzewi has been on the radar of the agency since 2017, gathering information about them until his eventual apprehension.

NDLEA confirmed a meth lab operation in the premises he occupied with his wife as a tenant in the community.

Due to the numerous security breaches in the community recently, VGCPORA, an organisation in charge of its management, appealed to property owners to conduct proper background checks of tenants before lease of properties.

It claimed that such act exposes other residents to security risk.

“Henceforth, VGCPORA will make background checks mandatory for new residents before access cards will be issued or renewed for existing residents.

“The act of Mr. Emeka Nzewi has exposed all occupants of properties around Road 14 to hazardous meth lab chemicals used and waste generated from production,” VGCPORA general manager, Yusuff Morufat, revealed.

According to the NDLEA Officials, it has become compulsory conduct test of water supply to properties around K-5A/2,
Road 14, as all boreholes, water supply and plants 500 metres away from property have been contaminated.

“VGCPORA has a longstanding commitment to provide a safe, drug free environment, therefore, the use of some domestic employees to distribute the drugs within the community will be checked,” she stated.

The general manager, therefore, appeal to landlords and tenants to join hands with the community managers in making VGC drug free.

Emeka Nzewi and accomplices have been arrested while the property will be sealed by the Lagos state government, Freelanews was informed.
